Our commitment to accessibility

California Schools VEBA ("CalVEBA") is committed to making our website and member tools accessible to everyone, including members with disabilities. Access to your health benefits information should never depend on how you navigate the web.

This website is designed to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA, published by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C). These guidelines explain how to make web content more accessible to people with visual, auditory, motor, and cognitive disabilities. Conformance is an ongoing effort, and we review new pages and features against these guidelines as they are added.

What we've built in

• Keyboard navigation. Every menu, form, and interactive element — including dropdown menus and detail panels — can be reached and operated with a keyboard alone. A "Skip to main content" link is available at the top of every page.
• Screen reader support. Pages use semantic headings and landmarks, descriptive link text, and ARIA attributes on menus, dialogs, and expandable content so assistive technology can announce what is on screen and what state it is in.
• Text alternatives. Informative images carry alternative text; purely decorative graphics are hidden from assistive technology.
• Reduced motion. If your device is set to reduce motion, the site's animations and transitions are minimized or removed.
• Readable, resizable text. Text is sized in relative units and the layout adapts from mobile to desktop, so you can zoom to 200% or use large-text settings without losing content or functionality.
• Color and contrast. Our color palette is designed to meet AA contrast requirements for text and interactive elements.

Compatibility

This website is built to work with current versions of common browsers (Chrome, Safari, Firefox, Edge) and with assistive technologies such as screen readers, screen magnifiers, and speech-input software.

Third-party content and documents

Some content on this site links to or is provided by third parties — for example, health plan and carrier websites, class-booking tools, downloadable PDF documents, and embedded videos. We cannot always control the accessibility of third-party content, but we choose partners with accessibility in mind and will help you get the information you need if you encounter a barrier.

If a document on this site (such as a PDF guide or report) is not accessible to you, contact us and we will provide the information in an alternate format, such as an accessible electronic file, large print, or over the phone.

Ongoing effort

Accessibility is not a one-time project. We audit new features against WCAG 2.1 AA before release, test with keyboard and screen reader, and update this statement as the website evolves.
